General Excellence Winner: Heather Keets Wright

Heather Keets Wright is the co-founder of Wright Creative Agency, a creative, branded content, and video production firm. Heather has worked with top brands such as Essence, ESPN, and Scholastic, bringing creativity and an extensive background as a multi-platform journalist to develop bold and authentic content for her clients.

Early in her career, Heather used her creative expertise to re-launch sites for TeenPeople.com and MarthaStewart.com. She transitioned to the agency world when she joined Pace in Greensboro, NC, in 2010, and managed 100 creatives, in five locations across the country as a member of the firm’s executive leadership team. Heather also served as Chief Content Officer at CYLNDR, where she spearheaded efforts to establish a content marketing practice, led the creative team, and led all client-facing content efforts.

One of Heather’s most notable content marketing achievements was launching the “On My Way” series for Wells Fargo, which targeted a millennial audience and told the stories of real people and how they view finances.

Heather is also a dedicated mentor and has been intentional about hiring and advancing women and people of color. She’s a frequent guest speaker at the Elon University iMedia Master’s program and at Content Marketing World.

Denise is committed to purpose-driven marketing and began developing a partnership between WP BrandStudio and a major film festival organization. The program is designed to offer storytelling mentorship to emerging filmmakers, and promote their work on washingtonpost.com channels.

Denise shares her time to mentor young people, especially women, and coach them to make the most of their opportunities in content marketing. She is also an accomplished panelist and public speaker who has taken part in events for Women in Media, The Spence School, and The Drum.

About the WICMAs

The Women in Content Marketing Awards (WICMA) were created to recognize the outstanding work of inspiring and accomplished innovators, spotlighting specific achievements made by women and ways that these marketers have positively impacted others — colleagues, clients, and the industry as a whole — through their leadership.

Women bring so much creativity, leadership, and innovation to the content marketing space, but despite their considerable contributions, many women aren’t recognized for what they’ve accomplished.

The Women in Content Marketing Awards are presented by Masthead Media, a full-service content marketing company founded and led by women, in partnership with the Content Marketing Institute.
